What will the service be like?
You can relax. We have a simple format for our gathering that will be relatively easy to follow. We use music that is both contemporary and traditional, videos, prayer, and personal stories to communicate the message of God's love in a clear and current way. The messages are biblical, relevant and practical. Our commitment is to offer a worship experience that helps connects you with God and that makes a difference in your everyday life.
What style of music will I hear?
We have a live band with primarily an acoustical sound and we play the style of music most people like to listen to. We also have a choir that sings a great variety of styles and types of music. We project the words to the songs onto the screen to make it easy to follow along. We also include traditional hymns at times to remind us of the roots of our faith. The songs we sing may be new to you at first but we believe you will enjoy the music and find that it helps you connect to God in a meaningful way.
What kind of church is it?
We are an interdenominational community of Christ followers with roots in the Baptist tradition (American Baptist Churches of America). We believe in the great classical truths that unite Christ believers everywhere. We also believe that God is far more interested in our hearts and how we live our lives than he is in denominational labels. Our pastor is ordained through the C.C.C.C. denomination (Conservation Congregational Christian Churches).
What should I wear?
Since God doesn't have a dress code neither do we. We encourage you to come as you are comfortable. The people you see on the platform will be casually dressed. As we like to say: “Don’t dress up…drop in”. If you like to dress up, go ahead. It is just that we aren't focused on style.
How long will the service last?
Our Sunday celebration begins at 9:30am and usually lasts an hour and 10 minutes. Our children's ministry begins about thirty minutes into our time together, after a time of music and singing. Afterwards, you are invited to hang around and join us for refreshments and also connect into one of our adult, youth or children’s classes at 11am.
What do you offer for kids?
During our Sunday worship service, we offer infant and toddler nurseries through age 4. "Kids Church”, our high-energy, interactive children's ministry , meets during this time as well. Your kids will learn a ton of great stuff and they will have a blast doing it. Our Children’s Sunday School – Living Inside Out – follows at 11am to 12noon. New kids are welcome each week.
Will I be singled out as a visitor?
Are you kidding? First of all, we consider you a guest not a visitor. Our commitment is to create a welcoming climate where you’ll feel at home. We won’t put you on the spot by having you say anything, stand or identify yourself as new.
You will have an opportunity at your own choosing to fill out our Who’s Who folder that will give you the chance to find out specific information about Hope Community Church.
